Professor of Fine Arts: Goldsmithing & Silversmithing, Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg

Por admin | 13.4.2012

The Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg invites applications for the following position of a professor in salary grade W3, to begin in winter semester 2012/13: Fine Arts: Goldsmithing and Silversmithing (Chair).

adbk-nuernberg.de

We are looking for visual artists of international standing who are qualified to teach an interdisciplinary art class.

The purpose of the said class is to, on the one hand, provide education to fine art students of various disciplines and, on the other hand, to manage and advance the Academy’s long-standing tradition of artistic and academic education of goldsmiths and silversmiths who have already completed a vocational training, bridging the gap between the areas of fine arts and experimental design.

Applicants must have an artistic profile that reflects a distinctive interest and a proven, solid competence in both the fine and applied aspects of the subject, as well as in the theoretical and practical exploration of the relationship between applied and fine arts.

The assignment includes teaching a class and mentoring the students who are currently enrolled in the Goldsmithing and Silversmithing branch. All further official duties are defined in Art. 9 of the Bavarian Higher Education Employment Law (BayHSchPG).

Applicants must distinguish themselves by artistic excellence and fully meet the pedagogical requirements for teaching at an art academy. The required qualifications are laid down in Art. 7 of the Bavarian Higher Education Employment Law (BayHSchPG).

The successful candidate will be expected to show a strong commitment not only in terms of teaching and student mentoring, but also in terms of collaboration in the Academy’s self-administration bodies.

The appointment is subject to approval by the Bavarian State Ministry of Science, Research and Art. Applicants who are 52 years or older at the time of appointment will no longer be eligible for civil servant status. They may, however, be hired as professors on the basis of a private employment contract. Bavarian higher education institutions may also choose to make temporary appointments for a maximum duration of six years.

The Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg seeks to increase the percentage of women among its artistic staff and hence will particularly welcome applications from accordingly qualified female artists.

If possessing substantially equal qualifications, severely challenged candidates (as defined by the German Disabled Persons Act) will be given preference.

Please submit your application, including all relevant documents—CV, degrees, diplomas, and certificates, as well as a documentation of your artistic œuvre (e.g. on CD or similar media, plus a list of subject-specific publications)—to be received by April 27, 2012 to:

Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Nürnberg
Bingstraße 60
90480 Nürnberg
Germany

Please do not send any originals unless explicitly asked to do so by the Academy.

If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Stiegler from the Human Resources Department by e-mail, stiegler@adbk-nuernberg.de, or phone, +49 (0)911 9404 152.
